An Observer's view of the Fire Walk

I was gifted an opportunity to be an observer from the side lines of this special event. I couldn't partake in the walk itself due to the strength of the soles of my feet. I find it very difficult to walk barefoot on any surface that is slightly rough. Having excused myself from the actual 'Fire Walk' event I was able to do something I am very practiced at, I observed, I'm an artist, I love people, I've been watching and drawing people for many years. Of course I attended the Pre-Walk presentation, this is essential for all participants and for me, as an observer, I needed to know what, and how, the people were supposed to be doing for the transformational walk. I needed to know that when the 'EGO' shows it's head, there is likely to be pain close at hand. The EGO is ever present and can be an enemy to us at times. Just when we think we might understand something the EGO raises its head and tells us 'I've got this', 'this isn...

Leap of Faith

This incident happened about eight years ago.  It feels like a lifetime .  It was a bright summer day. The blue Mediterranean Sea was calm, the waves gently lapping on the shore. Spain is truly a beautiful country and although I didn’t understand much of the language , I did have a few words which I would excitedly use it whenever I can - “Hola” , “Buenos Dias”, “Como Esta” , “Mucho Gracias”. I l used to love listening to the locals speak even though I had no idea what they were saying.  On this fateful day, my friend took me the PADI office to get me to go scuba  diving  with him.  I was scared and excited all the  at the same time.  I changed in to my diving gear and off we went to the diving spot on the motorboat with our instructors. The boat roared and splashed spraying the sea water on me.  After we reached the diving spot, we were asked to go in to the water. I just sat there, contemplating what to do. My instructor th...

CORPORATE YOGA - Bringing Yoga to the workplace!

Why corporate Yoga, you may ask and what value will it bring it to my organisation ? Did you know that Absenteeism caused by stress related illnesses already costs the Global Corporate World Billions of Dollars each year and it's steadily increasing year on year? I am Rebecca. I am a Master level Yoga teacher. I teach Yoga in my studio and  I have trained multiple Yoga teacher aspirants.  Before starting to teach Yoga professionally, I worked in different Global Corporations in various roles, the last couple of them being in leadership roles. Each of the different roles that I participated in over the years in corporate world brought it's own different demands of my time and effort and I saw how it can lead to a stressful state of mind. Stress is unseen and usually piles up over a period of time and a slight (often unrelated) trigger can unleash some unfortunate effects in our day-to-day life. We may not even notice as this stress buil...

What I learned from The Fire

Will you walk on hot embers ? I did. At Eric Ho’s “Master The Stage” event in Bangalore. It was a beautiful warm night, a gentle breeze caressing the skin, we gathered around the open space where the fire logs were kept. In a piece of paper, we had written down what we wanted to let go of with the help of the fire. These intentions when we write it down, we acknowledge its existence within us and when we let it go in the fire, it becomes a powerful way of allowing our minds to let go of things that were holding us back from being a better version of ourselves. The intention that I had written down in a piece of paper held tightly in my hand, we formed a circle around the fire log and held hands. After we put our intentions in the logs, one of our fellow members of the group lit the fire. The flames went up bright in the dark night and continued to dance as the wind gently blows. Eyes closed, feeling the warmth of the flames on my face, I s...
